Foreign nationals residing in Japan for a medium to long term must have a status of residence, and their activities must be conducted within the scope of their status of residence.
Below is an example of an inquiry.

Foreigner A.

I am changing jobs. What procedures do I need to follow?
Can I ask for that?

paralegal qualified to prepare legal documents on administrative matters, e.g. immigration

If you are in the same occupation, you will need to report to the immigration office. You can prepare this by yourself. However, when you renew your status of residence for the next time, you will need to submit many documents to be prepared by your company. Also, if you change jobs to a different occupation, you will need to submit an "Application for Permission to Change Status of Residence" to the Immigration Bureau, which will also require accompanying documents. Of course, we can assist you in preparing and submitting both if you request us to do so.

Foreigner B.

I am an international student, but I am graduating without a job.
Can I stay here?

Unfortunately, you cannot stay in Japan with the status of "foreign student". You will need to change your status of residence to "Designated Activities", which allows you to continue to engage in employment activities for 6 months, and also allows you to renew your status for another 6 months.
